What a great story, and a perfect example of how to draw the oil out of from the water. Too often businesses get into a mode of functioning that not only works, but works too well. Sometimes you have to take a step back and re-evaluate your structure to see what pieces you're overlooking that could improve functionality.

Thanks for sharing this story, it was very inspirational.

I love this quote about accomplishment and the credit for it. (I found this article when searching for the quote on the Internet.) Congratulations to the Hunters; I wonder whether they know that this was also President Reagan's motto -- which I witnessed firsthand on the special occasion of visiting his office in the White House -- there on his desk was a plaque with this motto on it! I've never forgotten the quote, or the impression it made on made to think of the President being guided by that idea. I decided then to strive for the same level of humility and action, but so far have not measured up to my own expectations. I am re-encouraged by reading about the Hunters and all they've done. Thanks for the article.

Great article. I found the idea of constantly checking our prejudices in our established relationships (as well as new) pretty challenging. There's a whole marriage seminar in there I sure! I'm always surprised when people I think I 'know' behave in a manner that I didn't expect. It usually happens when I have categorised someone as 'negative' or 'antisocial' then go on to be say incredibly sensitive or inventive in their dealings with others.
